I too browse the internet so search for inspiration or look at makeup artists doing their magic. The person who inspired me to do this look is Marlena, who did a great look on youtube, which you can see above.
Because I was inspired by her video, I'm not going to tell you how to recreate this, just look at her video and give it your own twist like I did. I had this look on yesterday when I went to the fair. It was a warm spring day and I wanted something that popped. I didn't use any of the products she did, this shows you that when looking at a tutorial or inspirational picture, that you don't HAVE to use the same products, you can use different colours and only use the same style of application, you can give it your own twist, you can use the same colours only from your own stash or if you really want to recreate it entirely get the same products.
This is the look I ended up with (I did sneeze just after applying the mascara, and I tried to clean it up a bit, in real life you couldn't really see it, but on the pictures you can). Sunlight:
When I got my Koh polishes I got some dark colours (Black Diamond), Rainy Day and Midnight Blue [still have to try that one]). I also got some lighter colours like the holographic Platinum Silver and this Brilliant Pink (114) colour I'm showing you now.
This colour is very pretty and a little see through if you use one coat. I thought it was more innocent if you use one coat so I took pictures of that too. Shade 1 coat:
Sun 1 coat:
Flash 1 coat:
If you apply 2 coats, it becomes this very Spring 2009 bright pink. It's almost flurescent and I love it for this time of year, it really cheers me up. I hope you like it!!
It's still Breast Cancer Awareness month and I wanted to do a look for this. We have a friend of the family who had breast cancer 15 years ago and she's thankfully still alive. I believe all the women supporting friends and/or fighting (breast)cancer should get all the support in the world.
Final eye:
I was in somewhat of a hurry the morning I had this look (I did take off the breast cancer sign before leaving the house), so this is an eye that doesn't take a lot of time and is very shimmery.

Face When preparing for makeup, I've always used a primer under my foundation ever since I found a great primer in Photo Finish (Smashbox). The look I posted before this I didn't use a foundation primer and my skin started to shine halfway through the day, so I'm all for primer again with this look. The primer I used here was the Hybrid 2 in 1, which gives a soft glow to the skin, followed by YSL Teint Parfait in no. 3 which also has a shimmer to it. This is not a foundation, but my skin wasn't in need of foundation so I skipped it. Using only some of the Concealer Palette to hide a little discolouration under my eyes.
Eyes On my eyes I used Primer Potion as a base and over this is used (all over my eyelid) the creme colour from the Bourjois Cafe & Creme Kohl. Over this I used some of the white from the Noir & Blanc kohl under the arc of my brow and on the inner corner of my eyes. See here the unblended white: Blend this well using your fingers!
As a shimmer all over and under my eyes I used Meringue with the All over shadow brush . This creates a shimmer all over and around the eye, very ice-lady Over the places where I put the white before I used the light pink from the Smashbox Eye Shadow Duo in Sexy/Demure. This is slightly lighter, adding some depth and lightness to the eye. Taking the no. 15 Definger brush I brushed some Grifter (a light shimmery purple) in my crease. I really faded it out but made sure there was a thick layer of Grifter, because the next step was adding a little Dazzle Dust in Cherry Red to the centre of the crease. If you blend this really well the hard pink edge fades and the purple underneath becomes more pink. I also took the thin liner brush and the same dazzle dust to draw the Breast Cancer ribbon on my cheek?
At this point I curled my lashes and added 2 coats of the Masterpiece Mascara pink side. I also brushed my brows into place.
Lips On my lips I used Mark lip gloss in Blow Kisses
I teamed the minimalist eye I blogged about yesterday with these lips today:
The colour is just a thick layer of Maybelline New York gloss from the line Watershine Elixir Lipstick in 550 Vibrant Fuchsia. If you use it thinly it's very subtle, but a thick layer really adds to the colour-pop.
Here is a tip to make sure you don't have lots of gloss on your teeth later on: Stick a tumb or finger in your mouth and simply close your lips like the thumb/finger isn't there. Now pull out the finger (I know it looks rediculous), all the gloss or lipstick that would normally get on your teeth is now on your finger.
Here is a quick look I had to do because in the Purple Green eyes for Hazel eyes look I did Wednesday 27th August 2008 I showed you how you could have a quick day smokey eye and I wanted to finish it. I'm really tired, so it's going to be a quick blog.
Products in this picture:
Benefit Firmology
Neutrogena Pure glow (dry and sensitive skin daily cleansing cushion)
Clinique repairwear intensive eye cream
Preparation I started with the cleansing cushion and cleaned my face using the scrub side first and the soft side second. I then took off the soap with warm water to open my pores and let in the Firmology quickly. I used repairwear eye cream to give my eyes an extra little bit of care.
I used these products - Smashbox, Photo Finish Clear Foundation Primer - Smashbox, High Definition Healthy FX Foundation in Light L3 - Smashbox, Travel Foundation Brush - Smashbox, Camera Ready Concealer in 3.0 - Smashbox, Photo Op Under Eye Brightener - Make Up For Ever, Super Matte Loose Powder in no. 12 - Sephora Professionnel, Minderal Powder Brush no. 45 - Smashbox, Eye Shadow Trio in Panorama (using the lightest colour only) - Smashbox, Concealer Brush no. 4 - Urban Decay, Eye Shadow Primer Potion - Urban Decay, Wallpaper Shadow Box using the colour Chopper (coppery fawn w/ silver microglitter Item # 35800) - Sephora Professionnel, Sponge Tip Shadow Applicator #27 - Urban Decay, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero (zealous black Item # 44470) - Mascara wand for eyebrow brushing - Blinc Kiss Me Mascara in Black
Face When the moisturiser was absorbed by the skin, I used Photo Finish Foundation Primer to create a base everywhere but on my eyelid, I used Urban Decay's Primer Potion here. I took my travel foundation brush to place High Def Foundation on my face starting at the centre and working outward blending it everywhere but on my eyelid. It was a touch day, so I used Camera Ready Concealer to conceal what is to come and blended this with the Foundation brush as well. I tapped some Photo Op Under Eye Brightener under my eye to make the concealer look more skin like. I set the foundation with Super Matte Loose Powder (not on and under my eye because this will create creasing under my eye and kill the Primer Potion on top of my eyelid). I placed the powder with a Mineral Powder Brush.
Eyes Using the concealer brush I brushed the lightest colour of the Trio all over my eye, using a second coat of the colour to brighten under my eyebrows a little. I then took my new Wallpaper Shadow Box using the colour Chopper with the concealer brush again all over my eyelid, into the crease and blended it up and a little over the crease. This creates a little warmth and shimmer on the eyelid, making it look more awake. Next I took the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero and first gave my waterlines a thick coat of black and blinked very hard to let the colour smudge a bit. I used less colour on the outer corner to make my eyes look more catlike (and naturally this is the place where it disappears on my waterline the quickest). To make the smokey part I created a line as close to my lashes as possible (wiggling it between the lashes a little) making the lashes looking thicker. This line doesn't have to be perfect. I took a Sponge Tip Shadow Applicator as a smudger and blended the colour using small circular motions. This makes the colour go over the lash line a bit, blending it up more at the outer corners. I finished the look by curling my lashes and using the Blinc mascara to finish my lashes. I used a mascara wand for eyebrow brushing.
Lips I used the Urban Decay Thorny Rose Lip Palette and took the colour Naked as a lip colour.
Nails My nails needed to happy up the look a little. I used OPI Original Nail Envy as a base a topcoat. In between I used 2 coats of Wild & More nail polish in 21. Here is a picture first with a flash, middle in natural sunlight, last without flash (which is why it's blurry)
