100th party look

Hi everyone,

Well, I decided to do a look I've been wanting to do forever, it's a bit out there, it's a real arty look, but it's really simple to do and it really makes a statement.

Face
As a tinted moisturizer I used Dermalogica, Sheer Tint Moisture in medium with SPF 15. Over this I used the last of my Smashbox, Photo Finish Primer Light tester. As a foundation I used a tester from Dior called Diorskin Eclat Satin in 300.

Eye base
The concealer I used here is Smashbox, Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer in no. 2. On my entire eye area I'm patting and blending Smashbox, Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, this adds a little extra radiance to the skin. On my browbone I blend a little Benefit, High Brow and on top of my eyebrows and on my inner corners of my eyes I blend Yves Saint Laurent, Touche Eclat in no. 2.
At this point I powder my entire face with a little Make Up For Ever - HD Powder using my special Sephora Professionnel, no 45 Mineral Powder Brush.

Eye
Because a primer makes the application of eyeliner a little bobbly and I want a very smooth line I'm not using any primer. (I'm not going out anyway so I don't need it right now either. I do however finish my face with a spritz of Make Up For Ever, Fixer Spray. This should keep everything looking perfect even without a primer). I want the eyes to look extremely black, but I also don't want it to have that waterproof liner look (a little thicker). I'm not going to use a cream eyeliner as a base but a pencil. The pencil I'm using is L'Oreal Contour Resist in 201 Black, I draw the outlines first (easier to make both eyes the same this way) then I fill it with the pencil. To set the pencil I'm using the colour Perversion by Urban Decay, which is a matte black. I have it in the Urban Decay Book of Shadows that I love and I apply it with the Urban Decay Wonder brush that is also in the Book of Shadows. For the outer tips of the wings I use the Sephora Eyeliner brush I have wetted and then I filled the brush with a little perversion. I used the same brush with Clinique, Brush-on cream liner in 02 true black.
I curled my lashes with Shu Uemura lashcurler and coated my lashes with one coat of Make Up For Ever, Smokey Lash in Black.

Challenge 15 Victoria Beckham - Cover Elle US January 2008 Tutorial

Hey guys,

Maybe you like to see how I actually take on these Challenges... I don't know, but here is the entire process for the Victoria Beckham Challenge, if you like it like this, tell me in the comments

Research part of the look:

Did you know that Victoria has (had) a makeup line? Their own site dVb style is currently being updated so I'm not sure if they still have the line or if it tanked. I do have to admit that the line looks quite amazing and I'd never heard of it before. BellaSugar had blogged in 2007 but I wasn't here then so I didn't read it. You can find more information on V-sculpt here, here and , but the V-sculpt homepage is no longer online so I think it's no longer sold/made.

I've been searching for some great HQ pictures of her eyes and I was pleasantly suprised about how much she's with her kids, I never realised. I've been very much aware of Victoria's looks and everything because she's someone I find very beautiful and if I ever get the dream chance to do her makeup, I'll probably have trembling hands and be very very nervous.
She seems to me such a sweet, nice and gentle person with a great sence of humour, style and trends. I've gotten lots of inspiration through her book "That extra half an inch" (first cover) and now studying her makeup.

I found many many great looks, but for today I made a small collage of the eyes that pulled me in most. The Challenge eyes are in there as well so I'll go in search for the best makeup colours from here. I'll get some black waterproof eyeliner, black cream eyeliner, dark matte brown, a light brown and a matte highlighter from my makeup stash.

This great picture though, this is from a long time ago (around the time of her wedding). She's not as serious as people perceive her to be.

I did notice one think when looking at her makeup, that there's one thing I'd change about her makeup. I'd bring her eyebrows closer together. Her eyebrows are very far apart, maybe that's how they grow, I don't know. But compare the eyes from the collage to this set I made just now to give you an idea.

Makeup part of the look:

Skin
I started with my skincare today using MDSkincare - Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel this really is amazing stuff, pricey, but very great. As a moisturizer I used MDSkincare - Auto-balancing Moisture SPF 10 because after a peel you need a great SPF moisturizer. On my eyes I used Sleeping Peel Age Minimizing Eye Gel.

Face
I started my makeup with my favourite Smashbox Primer Hybrid 2 in 1 which is available again with the Muse collection. People have complained about the 2 openings in the tube (one for the primer and one for the luminizer). You have to hold your finger in front of one of the openings to get the mix you want. It isn't perfect, but I don't mind it that much, I love the product so I forgive the packaging .

As a foundation I used Clinique Superfit Makeup tester in 05 neutral (MF-N) (dry combination to oily skin (skin types 2,3,4) which I was really pleasantly surprised about. I used it on my sister as well, and I really loved how it blended into both our skins. Also it hid a lot of sins.
Because Victoria is pretty tan in the pictures, I used 2 drops of Lancaster - Infinite Bronze Face Bronzer (15 SPF) (no longer sold I think) to make the foundation a little darker. I'm never going to reach her level of bronzeness, but a little darker is achieved.

As a concealer I used my trusting Smashbox - Camera Ready Concealer in 3.0 with the no. 4 Concealer brush.

To set all my base I used Make Up For Ever, HD powder with the Sephora, no 45 Mineral Powder Brush (no longer available on the website, it is still sold here in the shops though).

I used an extra bronzer to add a little extra sunny glow to my face. I used Givenchy - Prismissime Mat & Glow Limited Edition in 72 Sunny, because that's a limited edition it's not available anymore either (sorry guys, I do have to use the makeup I've got once in a while). But there is a good alternative, also a Givenchy Prismissime only this one is called 34 Sunset. Even though both the Givenchys come with a brush I use my Fan Brush no. 22, by Smashbox because this creates a softer more natural glow and you have more control over the colour density.

To contour my cheekbones I used 2 contouring products both by Smashbox, I used the Pressed powder / Bronze Lights Duo in Fair/Light (no longer available on the Smashbox website, but it came from the Smashbox Master's Class Vol. 3 Complexion Perfection - Light still available at Sephora in several colours). I used this colour to contour under my jawline and cheekbones. Then I used the
Smashbox, Blush / Bronzer Duo in Cosmopolitan from the Smashbox 'Socialite' Beauty Collection (also no longer available on the Smashbox website, but if you google it, you can probably still get your hands on it) also under my cheekbones, but I used it further towards my ear to make it look darker there and blend better with my normal skin colour thanks to the other contour colour. I placed both the contour colours with the Smashbox, Angled Blush Brush (only available in kits).

Eyes
As a primer I used my favourite ever!! the Urban Decay, Eyeshadow Primer Potion. There are many many primers out there, and the Urban Decay one is knows to work best on oily eyelids, but the packaging again isn't perfect.

My eyeshadow base is Smashbox Eyeshadow in Vanilla (it's a matte eyeshadow). I applied it with the Smashbox, no. 26 Shadow brush (only available in certain kits).

I looked at a lot of the pictures and she doesn't use a highlighter under her brows much so I didn't do that here either, if you want to, go right ahead! I did however use a highlighter on the inner corner of my eye, I used the lightest colour from the Smashbox Eye Shadow Quad also from the Socialite Beauty Collection. I blended it inward a bit with my finger.

Next I used the Smashbox, Cream eyeliner in Midnight Brown on the outer half of my eyelid (blending into and a teeny bit over the crease). I also used this on the lower lash line, blending the colour out as I was going inward

On the outer quarter of my eyelid I blended Smashbox, Cream eyeliner in Caviar into the brown, making sure not to blend further then 1/3 inwards. I also used this colour on my lower lash line again.
For both the cream eyeliners I used the Smashbox, no. 15 definer brush, which I love for blending cream eyeliners, cream eyeshadows and normal eyeshadows.

To darken my waterline I chose a product I know won't budge after application. It's especially made for the waterline and unlike waterproof eyeliner pencils (like Make Up For Ever, Aqua Eyes and the Urban Decay, 24/7 Glide on Eyeliner pencil this actually doesn't run on me. The waterproof pencils stay on my waterline for maybe an hour before fading, on my eyes they stay very long and amazingly well, but for my waterline, I only go to JetSet liners by Smashbox, I used Midnight Black here. There are only 4 colours available, which I think is a very mean thing of them to do to me, but usually I use the black one anyway. If I want an actual colour on my waterline I would go to the Urban Decay liners before the Make Up For Ever lines because of colour pay-off. I used to apply the liner to my waterline with the no. 21 arched liner brush but ever since I saw a video where a Smashbox makeup artist used the no. 20 double ended smudger brush I use that too (I use the brush side for quicker application), the no. 21 is still a great choice for your top waterline if you're new at this.

I thought my inner corner needed a little more of a kick so I used Bourjois, Shimmering Shine Liquid Eyeshadow in 37 Blanc Chrome as an extra highlight only on the inner 3 mm or something.

I went over the cream eyeliners with the no. 15 Definer brush and the dark brown from the Eye Shadow Quad Socialite (Smashbox), and blended the colour up a little more. This also blends the colours on the eyes even more.
I used as a matte black an amazing colour named Perversion from the Urban Decay, Book Of Shadows Palette, this palette is no longer available through the Urban Decay website, but if you google it, many companies still have it. The perversion colour is still available as a colour though from their website. As a brush I used the brush that came in the palette, I think it's now sold as their Wonder brush.
I placed the colour at the out most corner and blended it inward on both top and bottom.

As a mascara I thought I'd use the Givenchy, Phenomen' Eyes Mascara in 1 Phenomen'Black, I didn't curl my lashes do if you compare the first (without makeup) picture and this one, you see quite a difference after only one coat of mascara.

The example eyes were:

Which mean a lighter colour on the inner corner as you can see in my finished eye with full frontal natural light.

But it's also a little dark like the other example picture I was provided with. This is the same eye, I didn't change anything, I only turned my face a little to provide with side lighting (also natural light).

Lips
For the lips I used SWF Lipgunk by Urban Decay, I chose not to show you a picture because you'll fall in love with it and then I have to tell you they don't make it anymore. This hasn't been part of their collection in so long, that if you do find it, it's over 4 years old I think.

Reflection part of the look:

Sooo, I think it went pretty well, I'm very happy with the eyes and I loved every minute of it.
I do wonder how you think the tutorial is with me blabbering more about the products and not giving you the pictures of my products at the start of the topic (eyes, lips, face), but the link to the official website. I chose to do this because you can find more information about the product there (like ingredients or other colours).
Sooo tell me, do you like this or last year's way better?
What do you miss in the tutorials?

New Years Eve look

A very long time ago, I promised SayNo a look for today, and I never really had the time to do it because this isn't a look you can wear during the normal work/school-day. I used darker colours then I normally would on my skin because she's got a darker skin tone then I have.

But I did do it yesterday and here is the look I came up with:

Here's a quick how-to. It's not as detailed as usual, but it should be enough to recreate it.

- I started with a clean and scrubbed face that had been moisturized.
- Next you prime your face (I used Smashbox, Photo Finish UVA/UVB SPF 15 with dermaxyl complex) and your eyelids (Urban Decay, Eye Shadow Primer potion).
- Make your face look flawless with a great foundation (Smashbox, High Definition Healthy FX Foundation with UVA/UVB SPF 15 Oil-Free - Light L3), concealer (Smashbox, Camera Ready Concealer - 3.0) with a concealer brush (Smashbox, no. 4), , brightener (Smashbox, Photo Op - Under Eye Brightener), and powder when happy with your canvas (Make Up For Ever, High Definition Powder) with a brush (Sephora, Mineral Powder Brush - no. 45).
- Prepare your eyes for day wear with a shimmering gold. I've been addicted to Bourjois Shimmering Shine Liquid Eyeshadow because it's very shiny and I already have 4 colours so far. The colour I used here was 31 molecule d'or. For the day this is very pretty and this doesn't crease (let it dry before opening your eyes the first time after applying).

Just add some mascara and you have a very easy day look.
- I did a quick eye line in a gold colour (I used Urban Decay, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Honey to make the colour pop even more and also used this on my lower lash line for a golden "halo".

If you want a daytime look that's a little more spunky for today, add the mascara now and draw a prettier line then I did, I did it roughly because I'm taking the look directly to the final eye.
- Over the gold eyeliner and under my brows I built on the gold with gold eyeshadow. (Urban Decay, DeLuxe Eyeshadow - Honey) with a Shadow Brush (Smashbox, no. 26).

- At this point make your eyebrows look amazing, if possible make them a little darker because the black will blend up pretty high and you don't want the eyebrow to not stand out.
- Now the more difficult part of this eye starts. I took cream eyeliner (Smashbox, Caviar) with a dome brush (Smashbox, no. 15 definer brush) in my crease, I used more at the base and blended it up with the same brush and less pressure the higher I got. This looks very wrong when you start the line, but trust me, it's all in the blending take your time.
In the deepest part of the crease, darken it even more with some black matte eyeshadow (Rimmel London, Colour Rush in 214).

Because of the Bourjois under and the eyeshadow over the cream eyeliner it won't budge.
- Now, I lined my waterlines with a waterproof eye liner (Smashbox, JetSet in Midnight Black & Smashbox, no. 20 Smudge Brush). I also made a line on my lash line at the top only because this will make the false lashes look more real (Smashbox, no. 21 arched liner brush), even though they're amazingly fake because they're feather lashes.
- I curled my lashes (Shu Uemura) and gave them one coat of mascara (Dior, Diorshow - Waterproof 090 Black) because I want to use these lashes again one day and if you put on the lashes and then use mascara you can't. Also the lashes I'm using now are feather lashes so blending the lashes with the falsies is not possible.

You can leave it like it is now, orrr you can add false lashes....
- Now I used the glue that came with the lashes to put these great feather lashes on my eyes. I used Essence Lash Mania lashes in 03 Show off! Make Up For Ever has similar lashes.

Have a great New Years everyone!!
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2009!

Big
CCee

Challenge 10 - Kat von D for Sephora

Hey guys, the last look I will post today is the Kat von D Challenge (I was Challenged by bluesuze).

I worked of this image:

My final eye is:

I really hated choosing the colours I would use for this look, because I actually KNOW what colours Kat has on her eyes, but I don't have that palette, so I had to find colours in my collection to make it work.
I also creates bangs by straightening my hair (as far as straightening works on my hair) and pulling it back and then forward again and placing them with bobbie pins.

Products in this picture:

Talika, Lipocils - Eyelash Treatment Gel

L'Oreal, Derma Genesis - Moisturizer

L'Oreal, Derma Genesis - Eyecream

No. 7, Restore & Renew - Serum

Preparation
I did this look this morning, but it was really horrible weather, so halfway I went from natural light to my camera's flash.
I started with Clinique's 7 day scrub and moisturized with Restore & Renew Serum followed by the L'Oreal Derma Genesis set. I love the fresh smell of this and I used the Talika Lipocils on my lashes to hopefully get them healthier in a months time.

Face
I used my mom's Dior foundation Diorskin Fluide this morning and built on that base to create this Kat von D look.

Products in this picture:

Urban Decay, Skull Shadow Box

Urban Decay, Book Of Shadows

Smashbox, JetSet - Midnight Black

Stila, Smudge Pot - Black

The Body Shop - Slanted brush

Da Vinci - Eyeliner Brush

Sephora Brand Professionnel Platinum, Natural Dome Smudge Brush - no. 13

Urban Decay, Brow Box

Sephora, Eyelashcurler

Dior, Diorshow - 090 Black

Eyes
I started with a layer of Urban Decay Primer Potion on my eyes and on the temple where the stars will be. I then decided to draw the stars first because that gives a better image of the final look. I used JetSet for this because I know this won't budge after it's dried. I placed the stars with the Da Vinci Eyeliner brush. When I was done I lined my waterlines and actually went to get some groceries with just the stars on my face. People looked funny, but I don't mind so much, it was cool.

The colour I used all over my eyelid (to a little over the crease) was Gridlock, an amazing colour!! Seriously, if you need a new signature colour that you can wear for day and glam up for night, try this colour it's seriously amazing. I placed this with the brush it came with in the Book of Shadows.

To be honest I expected the brushes in the Shadow Box to be of a poor quality, but the brush is actually really good! The handle is cheap and typically Urban Decay, but again typically Urban Decay the thing that makes a brush good (the bristles and the length of them) is really great!

I used the colour Blunt from the Skull Skull Shadow Box as a highlight on the inner corner of my eye and under my brow. This is a vanilla type of colour that's very shimmery on the skin and looks really pretty, you don't expect that when you look at it in the container, but on the skin it's a real surprise!

As the dark brown colour I used Twice Baked also from the Skull Shadow Box and used it on my outer half of my eye. I also placed this under my lower lash line with the dome brush.

Next up was the dark crease Kat has. I used the Book of Shadows black for that, this colour is called perversion. To get a thin line at the inner corner of the crease I used a slanted brush by The Body Shop. For the blending further out and under my lower lash line I used the dome brush again.
After this I lines my eyes with the Smudge Pot. I don't know why I chose this one and not the JetSet again, I just naturally went to the Stila jar. To create the wing I used the Da Vinci Eyeliner Brush again because this brush is longer then the other liner brushes I have.

Now all I had to do was fill in my brows like Kat's using the Brow Box and I darkened the darkest brown a bit by using the Perversion here as well.
I curled my lashes and placed Diorshow on my top and bottom lashes.
The final eye is:

Challenge 8 - Vampire Costuem Look (October 11, 2008)

Hi everyone, here is the real Vampire Costuem Look I was challenged to to by suebree96.

Original look:

My look:

It was actually really hard to do a look from a drawing, but it was a really fun challenge to do and I scared the living daylights out of my dad, so I did have a laugh with it when it was done.

Preparation
As this look has layers of makeup, I needed to have a great looking fresh skin, so I used a tester of MD Skincare Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel (which I really liked!) to clean up all the dead skin cells. I used Clinique Repairwear Eyecream and Neutrogena ClearSkin moisturizer to protect and feed my skin.

Products in this picture:

Bourjois, Black & White Kohl Pencil

Too Faced, Magic Wand Foundation - New York Light

Smashbox, Lip & Lid Primer

Smashbox, Camera Ready Concealer - 3.0

Smashbox, Concealer Brush - no. 4

Smashbox, Wicked Lovely Doubletake Lip Color - Gossamer

Smashbox, Photo Finish Clear Primer Potion

Rimmel London, Colour Rush Mono eyeshadow - Jet Black (214)

Smashbox, Eye Shadow Trio - Panorama

Stila, Smudge Pot - Black

Smashbox, Photo Op - Under Eye Brightener

Sephora, Eyelash curler

Make Up For Ever, Super Matte Loose Powder - no. 12

YSL, Touche Eclat - no. 2

Da Vinci - Eyeliner Brush

Sephora Brand Professionnel Platinum, Natural Dome Smudge Brush - no. 13

Smashbox, Shadow brush - no. 26

Smashbox, Definer Brush - no. 15

Smashbox, Smudge brush - no. 20

Smashbox, Angled Brow brush - no. 12

Smashbox, Arced Liner brush - no. 21

Sephora Brand Professionnel, Mineral Brush - no. 45

Christian Dior, DiorShow Mascara - 090 black

Bourjois, Lipstick - no. 13

Clarins, Lipstick - no. 50

Face
I started my face with Photo Finish Clear Primer Potion to create a base and make sure the makeup wouldn't move. Over this base I took quite a thick layer of Magic Wand Foundation, because it's a light reflecting foundation and it's the lightest I have. Also this foundation can be build up from fairly see through to a covering foundation. At this point I used the Photo Op to prevent puffy eyes later on. I didn't need the lighting effect, so I used it under my concealer which I used with a concealer brush to hide my dark circles. I used the Smashbox Lid primer on my lids to see how well makeup would blend over this (the same as with Urban Decay Primer Potion) and well the makeup stuck to my eyes (pretty well, but I didn't go through the rain so no definite opinion yet). I used a little Touche Eclat under my eyes working in a triangle working to a point on the apple of my cheek, blending out very well. Over this I used some Make Up For Ever powder to set everything. My eye now looks like this:

I took up the Mineral Powder brush to brush a layer of the white eyeshadow from the Panorama trio over the centre of my face blending working outward. This means you don't have to contour your face to prevent it from looking flat and you're lightening your face because a vampire is pale.
I took a picture of my eye after I placed the white pencil before blending to show you the placement before blending with a brush.

I went over the white pencil with some more Panorama white using the no. 15 Definer brush to set the pencil.

I placed some grey around my eye using the definer brush to have more control over the placement. I used it under my eye working outward, on the brow bone, blending into the white and down and on the side of my nose (at eye-height). See this picture for the placement:

As you can see, I look like I have a black eye:

I used a Stila Smudge Pot as a base on my eyelid to darken the colour.

As you can see it wasn't a blended outer line, I worked the colour up to the crease with a smudger brush and blending wasn't needed because I'll go over it with more black later. Also, vampires don't have perfect eyes, this eye is the example of beautiful ugly makeup, so if you make mistakes... they aren't a huge drama.

I went over the black with the Rimmel black and the no 26 shadow brush. I used an angles eyebrow brush to place a perfect line over the white and an arced liner brush to blend the colour down in the inner corner (not into the white, around the white and down).

With the no. 20 smudge brush I blended some of the smudge pot in my lower lash line and went over it with my definer brush and black Rimmel eyeshadow.

To see how high I needed to go with the black, I looked really angry. And for a laugh I wanted to show you that eye as well:

As you can see, the black blended up very high, almost into the eyebrow at the beginning and end and only keeping the white I placed in the arc perfectly white.

Now to see how the tears needed to go, I drew them in with the definer brush and black shadow, also this creates a cheat sheet for how to hold your head for the perfect tears later.

Before adding the tears I chose to darken the under eye area a little more:

Now I took a small bowl and put some water in it. I scraped some of the black eyeshadow in the water and I then dipped the Natural Dome Smudge Brush in it because this brush can hold a lot of water without dripping. I blended the black eyeshadow to a muddy texture in the makeup and then "emptied" it in the water. Now you have very dirty water, perfect for running makeup tears.

I placed the filled up brush at the base of my lower lashes and let a fake tear fall, helping the placement by moving my face. Sometimes I added some more "muck" to the tear halfway.

Build up the tears until you're happy with it.

All you need to do right now is curl your lashes and add mascara. You can even choose to use false lashes to intensify the eye some more but I liked the rough look better.

Lips
I used some Lip Primer on my lips and took my new Wicked Lovely Doubletake Lip Color in Gossamer. Using the lip liner colour on my top lip and the lip colour on the bottom, now in the picture you don't see much of a difference, but in real life the top lip was more pink then the bottom lip.
I used a mixture of a more red (Bourjois) and a more brown (Clarins) lipstick to create a bloody effect, you could use fake blood, but this was fine for me. I placed the colour with a Da Vinci eyeliner brush to have more control over the colour. I placed it more in the corner of my lip and went up a little to make a little false grin (sort of like the joker in the batman movies).

Now the look is done and I was looking like this:

You can add false teeth to be even more vampire!
