Fauxhawk

Hi everyone,

Nicole and I have been toying with the idea of a fauxhawk on her for a while now. Yesterday I actually did it on her, and I'm very happy with it, only I don't have blonde kirby grips, so I did it with the brown ones I have for my own hair.

What I did was straighten her hair with a straightening iron and use a volumising mousse (John Frieda Volumising Mousse) to give it a little extra umph. I sprayed some straightening spray on her ends to keep it straight (John Frieda, Straightening Potion.

I then backcombed the top of her hair, warming up the hair near the roots and then spraying it with a hair spray (Moisture Barrier) before backcombing. This warming up the roots and spraying before backcombing means it will hold the volume better.
When I was done with backcombing her hair looked like this: I then took up the upper half of her hair and put it into a ponytail. The elastic I used was BLAX® hair elastics, this elastic means no snags and a thin elestic that's "easy" to hide. I then took two side pieces (just to the back of her ears and pulled those over the elastic, hiding it with (too bad you can see the darkness of the) kirby grips/bobby pins. I then fluffed up the hair at the back to make it stand out a bit (not too much though).

I then sprayed all the hair again to make it keep it's shape.

I was asked what type of camera I use, I just can't find the question anymore, so I thought I'd tell you here. The camera I use is a Panasonic dmc-fz8 and I use the setting "soft skin" for most things makeup-related. I sometimes use the setting "food" for nailpolish though.

I hope you guys like this hair tutorial.
