Semi neutral eye makeup look (Wednesday August 6, 2008)

This eye is neutral but also popping. The trick is not using much colour on the upper eyelid and a little on the bottom.

I first used Benefit's Some kind-a gorgeous, there are only two colours in this range which can seem scary, it's a medium colour (and there is a deeper colour) and I thought it would be to dark for me, but it's actually perfect. I think it's because it's very very translucent. I like the way my skin feels when I wear it, my Dior DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation gives me a perfect face, my YSL gives me a nice colour when it's too warm for foundation and my Dermalogica tinted moisturiser gives me a little foundation when I'm not wearing make-up but want to look a little more polished, but today it was raining here and I felt like a little coverage was needed with a neutral eye.

For a concealer I used Sephora Brand Concealer Palette. I love this palette because it has four colours and it all goes very well with my light skin tone. I mixed the lightest flesh tone with the darker one around my nose, used the green on 2 red spots and mixed the pink tone with the lightest skin tone to make my perfect coloured under eye concealer. I know friends who never used to mix the colours and they always said the colours didn't suit them, I told them you can mix it and now they're very happy with it, so don't be afraid to mix your foundations or your concealer to make it perfect for you. And remember that in the summer, a drop of liquid bronzer in your normal liquid foundation makes the colour perfect for when you've gotten a sun kissed look and your foundation is suddenly to light.

Next I used Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion to keep my colour where I put it. Especially when using colours under my eyes i need my Primer Potion to keep it from running all over my face when it's raining. I then followed with Benefit cosmetics' High brow pencil to highlight my brow bones. I've been getting compliments on my eyebrows a lot lately, and all I've done different in the last 2 months is the High brow pencil, so I'll keep using it :D
I did all my face work up to now with my fingers.

I used my new Urban Decay Naked (Neutral Matte Eyeshadow: buff nude Item # 36900) with my Sephora Brand Professionnel All Over Shadow Brush (Large #21) over my eye up to and a little above the crease. That's the upper eye makeup done. I took my Smoke Out Eye Pencil by Urban Decay in Smoke Out (charcoal black Item # 44330) and made a think line on and over the roots of my lower eyelashes. I then smudged it out with the blender tip that's on the other side of the pencil. Really it's very easy, just go over the line in a horizontal motion and it gives a smokey effect. If you're new to smokey eyes and ever want to try it but want to make it light and mistake proof, try this pencil and you can draw the most wonky line and the smudger will make it perfect in the end. Lastly I gave my lower waterline a coat of the black of Bourjois' Black&White Kohl and gave my upper eyelashes a coat of Too Faced Lash Injection in Pitch Black. I'm waiting for the Sephora The Lash Stash to come in the mail, it has 7 travel sized mascara's you can try out (Benefit A Little Bit BADgal Lash in Black, Blinc Kiss Me Mascara in Black, LORAC Publicity Stunt Lashes in Black, Smashbox Bionic Mascara in Black, Stila Multi-Effect Mascara in Black, Sephora Brand Lash Plumper in Black, and Too Faced Lash Injection in Black). I'm really missing my Diorshow mascara and this Lash injection keeps making me get mascara on my skin which I've never done before ever, so I'm blaming the wand. I like the texture and everything, but the smell is also something that annoys me.

I hope you like my look.

Still curious to know what you all think.
